SINK OR SWIM

On Saturdays, I alway write about members of the Trinity Writers Workshop, a writer’s critique group in Bedford Texas, which holds workshops on Tuesday evening (6:30 pm) and Saturday mornings (10:00 am) in the Bedford Boys Ranch Trinity Arts building.
Today, I’m introducing Joanne Faries, a former president of TWW and one of the more prolific and published writers in the group. Joanne is an advocate for frequent submissions of writing projects and over the past five years has always placed in the top three in TWW’s annual Babe Ruth Contest, a competition which honors the members of the group who have had the most rejections over the previous years. As Joanne says, if you don’t throw your “stuff” out there, it won’t get published.
Originally from the Philadelphia area, Joanne lives in Texas with her husband Ray. Published in Doorknobs & Bodypaint, Off the Coast, Orange Room Review, and River Poets Journal, she also has stories and poems in Shine magazine, Magnapoets, Up the Staircase, and Silver Boomer anthologies and is the film critic for the Little Paper of San Saba.  The last is quite a distinction since San Saba is a town with no theater.
Check out her blog   www.wordsplash-joannefaries.blogspot.com  and see links to her various stories and poems.

Joanne “throws more stuff out there” than anyone I know. She has quite a collection of publications.

  4. sharon – I peeked in to check up on your blog, and there’s my face. Thanks for the nice blurb. I certainly do throw it out there – left handed, no less. Gee – I guess I’ll say excellent post! Appreciate it.
