SOUND OF RAIN

After enduring the record drought and heat this summer. The sound of the rain last night and today was music to my ears. Matt and Cinders (my cats) sat on the sills in front of open windows and marveled at the unusual moisture falling from the sky.

The sound and smell of precipitation made me really lazy. All I wanted to do was lie in bed and read.

But I was determined to get some much needed de-cluttering done.

Looking for some good music to listen to while doing the boring housekeeping chores, I pulled up the final performances on The Voice I’d saved on DVR.

It was cool to listen to performances by Dia Frampton and  Javier Colon–the runner-up and winner of the competition.

Matt and Cinders left their window seats to follow me around as I stuffed trash into bags, gathered up laundry, dusted shelves and cleaned kitchen and bathroom. When I pulled the  vacuum cleaner out, however, they ran for safety under the bed.

Chores done. Papers graded. Writing done.

Now I can claim my reward.

Clean sheets on the bed, kitties curled up on the comforter,

and a cup of plantation mint tea.

If only another rainstorm could breeze through the area. That would be perfect.

I stayed up until the early hours listening to the rain. Coming from London, I never thought I’d be excited to see a downpour!!!

Hello Sharon! That’s wonderful that you got some rain. That drought was awful. I have another blogger friend who has written posts about it and also the heat wave. And then TX had that horrible fire to deal with. So I’m glad you got rain. Yay! I love to go out on my patio during a storm and listen to the rain hit the aluminum roof! It sounds so cool, and it’s nice to kick back and listen to the thunder and watch the lightning. And the dogs aren’t as scared when I’m there to calm them down!

    • Thanks Lynn. One of my cats, Matt, is terrified of storms and I usually know one is in progress when I’m wakened with a heavy feeling in my chest. I open my eyes and there’s Matt, sitting on my chest, blinking his blue eyes, telepathically telling me the sky is falling.

  3. So nice to know you got so much done. Rain does change things …as for me, I live in a state where there is rainfall all through the year. Its good for writing and also because I love rain.

Thanks for sharing your day Sharon!

    • I don’t think I could handle constant rain so might not flourish in London or Seattle, but I do love the sound of rain and storms when I’m safe and cozy at home.
