NOT CRAZY FOR APPLE PIE, HOT DOGS OR CHEVROLET EITHER

Everyone knows that I’m not a baseball fan. Sad, I know, especially since the Texas Rangers are really doing well and I’ve always supported the local teams. Even in bad years, I’ve worn my Mavericks and Cowboys jerseys and defended Dirk and Tony when others gave up on them.

But tonight, when I clicked on my recorded shows and expected to see X-factor and saw the Rangers and Detroit playing ball–well, I have to say I was disappointed.

Sure, I should have known the game would pre-empt other shows. But remember, I’m not a baseball fan. I didn’t know they were playing. Well, maybe at some level I knew they were playing, I just didn’t think about it, or expect it to have any impact on my life.

So, what does that say about me that I prefer to watch an imported Brit. Reality Show with Simon, Paula and a bunch of wanna-be entertainers over the hometown heroes?

Am I shallow?

Un-American

Wasting my valuable writing time watching–or in this case fussing over not watching–reality shows? Have I lost my perspective on what is really important?

Would love to hear your comments.

  1. I’m with you. I’d much rather watch X-Factor!

  2. I understand your point. I get annoyed on Sundays when CBS football runs late and it skews the start time for The Good Wife. We all have our fave shows. I have to say the Rangers have been exciting – But Ranger ball always runs long and add rain delays to the mix – it’s a timing disaster.
But Chevrolet….Ray will have to take you for a ride in his Corvette. You’d eat your words…with apple pie. ha!

    • Corvette’s are cool! Didn’t know you had one of those.
I like Good Wife, too. I DVR all my faves–hate the commercials–and if i know there’s a game of some sort, I’ll go ahead and tape the following show after my favorite in case the game runs over.
It’s funny, I played softball and my kids were in little league, but baseball is one game that just bores me. I’m happy for the Rangers, but …
