THRILLERS, HISTORICALS AND MEMOIRS OH MY!

One of the best things about my Saturdays is listening to all the talented writers read their works in progress at Trinity Writers Workshop. Among our members are novelists, short story writers, poets, songwriters, memoir writers and non-fiction writers. TWW is our home away from home: a safe place to read our writing and receive constructive, supportive critique.

We also benefit from the classes and seminars offered by TWW. We are looking forward to the November 5th Marketing Your Writing Seminar with Chuck Sambuchino. Bringing his experience as an editor with Writers’ Digest and editor of the Guide to Literary Agents, Chuck will be sharing his marketing knowledge and experience and offering one-on-one advice to writers who are trying to get their projects published..  His blog is one of the more popular writing blogs on the internet. He also teaches at numerous writing conferences throughout the year.

My advice to anyone who has a completed writing project (or a work in progress) and is looking to get it published?  Reserve a seat at this seminar by signing up here. You can even get on the open-mike list to read your writing to the group and enjoy fifteen minutes of fame.

I also recommend the Trinity Writers’ Workshop to any writers who are looking for a constructive and supportive writing/critique group. We meet twice a week on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings at the Bedford Boys’ Ranch in Bedford, Texas. Check our our website and our blog.

Each Saturday, I will present one of our gifted writers in this post.  This week, I’m introducting Bonnie Pemberton author of The Cat Master.

Bonnie is a long-time member of TWW and is currently completing her psychological suspense/thriller What Every Sociopath Should know. The novel involves an unsolved murder, a fragile, emotionally disturbed girl and a sociopath who has no idea what he’s getting into when he targets that girl for blackmail.

The Cat Master was Bonnie’s first published novel.

Tension is growing between the Ferals and Indoors, and the old Cat Master, spiritual leader of all felines, is dying. Time is running out, and he must choose a successor that will rule wisely and keep peace among their kind. Of all his descendents there are only two brother that are qualified: Jett, the powerful, ambitious Feral who has survived the perils of the alley, and quiet, complacent Buddy, who was rescued by a human and now lives the pampered life of an Indoor. With his last breath, the old cat decides. He alerts Buddy through mind-talk. “Rise from the alley, my son,” he commands. “Of all my blood, you are The Chosen.” But his message is intercepted telepathically, and Darkness suddenly reigns in the cat world. Driven by jealousy and desperation, brother is pitted against brother in the fight to rule their species . . . a struggle that will confront Buddy’s deepest fears and threaten the lives of those he loves most. Against a backdrop of dangerous alleyways and a scorching Texas summer, Buddy discovers the power of friendship, the lure of evil, ant the knowledge that no peace can come without sacrifice.

.

Along with Chuck Sambuchino and other published writers from the Trinity Writers Workshop, Bonnie will be available to sell and authograph her book at the November 5th conference.

What a surprise to see photo and info about my books on your delicious blog! The working title however, is What Every Sociopath Should Know…leave out the ‘Good’.. 🙂 I too am wrestlling with the dried remains of a vicious summer. I don’t think I have the heart to replant until next spring.

Have your latest novel “Thicker Than Water” right on my desk and can’t wait to sit down with a glass of iced tea, curl up in my big chair and read when I should be writing! A guilty pleasure for sure. Thanks for the plug, friend!
