Today I substituted in a freshman English class at a local high school.
This meant I left home at a little before 7:00 am. The air was crisp and cool, some of the leaves on the trees were turning and, as I drove into the parking lot, the marching band was practicing their music and choreography.
In the classroom the students were talking about the upcoming football games and I remembered how much I enjoyed this time of year when I was a teenager.
I still love high school football–I do live in Texas–as well as college–Go TCU Frogs!–and professional–what about Romo and those Cowboys?.
Kenny Chesney has a wonderful song about this all-American sport titled “The Boys of Fall” on his Hemingway’s Whiskey album. For those who are interested, Kenny also produced a documentary by the same name.
Another thing I’ve always looked forward to this time of year is Halloween.
Last weekend, Mitzer (one of my favorite canines) modeled the costume she will wear this year.
Her older brother, Hurley, declined the invitation to join the fashion preview.
But I have it on the best of authority that there’s a Superman costume he might agree to wear if treats are involved.
Looks like both granddaughters are princesses:)
